It is no different from America’s ignorant, uninformed, brain-washed citizens, the so-called ‘progressives’, who got it all wrong. Anything Islam incl. the attire belongs in the century, that are stuck in the 1500s or the 16th century. Western countries would do much better to help this people with their transition into the 21st century and the real world. We, sure as hell, are not going conform with their outdated attitudes.

You won’t believe it, but the Tweet is blocked in Germany now. I may not see it anymore.

I do believe this Ben. That has happened to me a few times on Facebook and twitter. I don’t know if wordpress will do that. We have so many sites here. I wrote a long response to ARD Tagesschau which I watch every morning and first things was, the “derogatory ‘ comments by Donald Trump about Haiti and Africa. I am not sure that they even allowed it. I am pretty outspoken and direct.

Twitter and Facebook become hell for conservatives now. I think Milo Yiannopolous is sueing Twitter at the moment. I don’t know how Pamela Geller’s lawsuit is doing at the moment. German blogger Juergen Fritz is also sueing FB. The particular tweet of this post was probably blocked in Germany because WDR claimed copyrights violations. That’s how they enforce censorship at the moment. No media, but state media and they go for free floating material. So people can’t discuss footage. Merkel is hardly ever on camera anyway (in speaking roles).
I think WordPress runs under the radar of the German government. Not because it would not meet the definition of a social network und der the new censorship law NetzDG; it does, but the German state lives in the middle ages. They don’t understand the internet. For them, each WordPress site looks like a new space. Only we as bloggers know that we are not different from Facebook. Still it’s a matter of time until they figure it out.
WordPress as a company rarely looks into the community content. I have only heard of one instance when they blocked a site temporarily, and that was a pro-Nazi site.
I don’t make my way through the Tagesschau website. I wonder how many people do. I’ve seen a poll that shows that most Germans who admit using the internet as news source (a moral problem for Germans) do actually read ‘tagesschau.de’. But rarely does one find comments. I don’t believe it.
Here was my summary of the poll with a link to the original:

If you ever may need a space where you really, really can vent off -also under a pseudonym if you wish- and still converse with civilized commentators, there is a small free speech niche, even wild for US settings, that I can recommend:
http://www.writerbeat.com
They only ask to leave two or three comments on other people’s articles within 24 hours before publishing your own text. They have very, very diverse opinions.
